MariaDB MariaDB Community Server — Default Password

Default username and password for the MariaDB MariaDB Community Server: root / (blank). Learn how to log in and how to change the default credentials.

On fresh installations the root account has no password. From MariaDB 10.4 onward, root authenticates via Unix socket plugin — no password needed when running as the OS root user. Run mariadb-secure-installation to set a root password post-install.
