Various Tomato / FreshTomato Router Firmware — Default Password
Default username and password for the Various Tomato / FreshTomato Router Firmware: admin / admin. Learn how to log in and how to change the default credentials.
Tomato and its actively-maintained fork FreshTomato are open-source Linux-based firmware distributions for home routers (Asus RT-N/RT-AC, Linksys E/WRT series, Netgear WNDR, and D-Link DIR models). After installation the web GUI at http://192.168.1.1 uses admin / admin, while SSH and Telnet CLI access always use the username 'root' with password 'admin'. Holding the SES/AOSS button for 20+ seconds starts a password-less telnet daemon on port 233 for emergency recovery.
| Username | Password | Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
admin | admin | Web UI | Web GUI at http://192.168.1.1. Default immediately after flashing Tomato or FreshTomato firmware. |
root | admin | SSH | SSH and Telnet CLI. SSH username is always 'root' in Tomato/FreshTomato regardless of the web GUI username. |
