Brocade VDX data-centre switches (VDX 6720, 6740, 6940, 8770 — now sold as Extreme Networks VDX after the 2017 acquisition) ship with three factory-configured accounts running Network OS. The management interface acquires its IP via DHCP by default (no static default IP). All three accounts share the same initial password 'password'. Brocade documentation mandates changing all default passwords on first login. The root account is reserved for manufacturing and recovery and should not be used operationally.
