HPE iLO 4 (ProLiant Gen8, Gen9) and iLO 5 (ProLiant Gen10, Gen10+) ship with a unique, randomly-generated 8-character initial password printed on a physical iLO tag label affixed to the server (a pull-tab on the front panel, a toe tag, or the serial number label on the rear chassis). The username is always 'Administrator'. The iLO DNS hostname is also printed on the tag in the format ILO<serialnumber>. IP is acquired via DHCP by default. HPE recommends immediately changing the password after initial access. Some older or stripped SKUs shipped without a tag and may have defaulted to admin/admin — always verify the physical server tag.
