Factory-default Junos OS ships with the root account and no password. Console access accepts 'root' with an empty password press. Remote SSH as root is disabled until a root password is configured and committed. The first commit of any configuration REQUIRES setting a root password via 'set system root-authentication plain-text-password'. Applies to all EX and QFX series running Junos.
